Definition

A land to the south of Edom, along the Red Sea coast, part of Arabia, referred to in the Old Testament.  The Midianites were descendants of Abraham, and Moses fled to Midian where he married a Midianite wife. Gideon was victorious against Midianite invaders (Judges chapters 6 - 8).
