DefinitionA title given in the Bible to the expected Messiah, who, it was thought, would be a descendant of King David. Applied to Jesus in the New Testament.
A Hebrew word meaning 'anointed one', describing someone who will be the saviour of the people. Title (eventually used as name) given to Jesus.
