The section of the temple or tabernacle where the Ark of the covenant lay. It was called the 'Holy of Holies' in Hebrew, usually translated as 'the most holy place'Cultural References
Big ideas: Temple, tabernacleA sacred building used for worship. In the Bible, the Temple was the centre of Jewish worship in Jerusalem. In the New Testament, the term is also used as an image of the believer's physical body.
A sacred tent, a portable and provisional sanctuary, where God met His people Israel.
1. Large ship built by Noah at the instruction of God. 2. Portable wooden box overlaid with gold which contained the Tablets of the Law and symbolised the presence of God with the people of Israel.
A binding agreement / treaty.
In the Old Testament this was the most holy place in the tabernacle or temple. Before the destruction of the temple on Jerusalem it held the Ark of the Covenant which held the two tablets of stone on which were written the Ten Commandments.
