A-Z: General definitions: Leda
Definition
Leda, the wife of king Tyndareos of Sparta, was seduced by Zeus in the guise of a swan. The resulting egg held Helen (of Troy). Some stories say that Castor, Polydeuces and Clytemnestra hatched from this or a second egg, although some say Castor and Clytemnestra were mortals. Nemesis is also a possible mother of Helen.Related Topics
