Definition

1. Doing homage and giving honour and respect to God. Acts of devotion. A response to the perceived presence of the divine. The Bible includes a wide range of physical expression in worship, including bowing down (Psalms 95:6), lifting hands (Psalms 28:2), clapping (Psalms 47:1), dancing (2 Samuel 6:14), processions (Psalms 118:27) and singing (Psalms 13:6). The main day on which Christians gather for communal worship (church) is Sunday (the day when Christ is believed to have risen from the dead). Worship also includes obeying God in everyday life (Romans 12:1). 2. The part of the Christian liturgy usually consisting of sung material and prayers of thanksgiving and praise.
