Definition
The standard medieval commentary on the Bible, composed chiefly of extracts from the Fathers of the Church.
Belonging to the Middle Ages.
Many of the Church Fathers wrote commentaries on individual books of the Bible and their interpretations shaped the understanding of subsequent generations.
The Christian Bible consists of the Old Testament scriptures inherited from Judaism, together with the New Testament, drawn from writings produced from c.40-125CE, which describe the life of Jesus and the establishment of the Christian church.
