As Peter walked in the morning he saw a Fig-tree tree by the side of the road, dried up from the roots. He remembered that the day before, Jesus had cursed it for not bearing any fruitOne of the twelve disciples of Jesus, originally called Simon but given the name Cephas by Jesus.
The fig tree was one of the most important domesticated plants in the biblical era. In the Old Testament book of Genesis Adam and Eve covered their nakedness with leaves from the fig tree.
The name given to the man believed by Christians to be the Son of God. Also given the title Christ, meaning 'anointed one' or Messiah. His life is recorded most fully in the Four Gospels.
