Jonah first ran away from his comission to prophesy to the city of Nineveh and then was resentful when what he warned of did not happen because the Ninevites repentedThe main character in the Old Testament book of Jonah. Jonah was a prophet sent by God to the city of Nineveh to preach to the people but he disobeyed. He spent three days in the belly of a whale. Jonah prayed and God gave him a second chance.

Capital of Assyria; at one time the most powerful city in the world. The prophet Jonah was sent to Ninevah to tell warn it people of God's anger at their sinfulness.
