Definition
An organisation of black radical political activists which rejected Christianity as a racist and corrupt ‘white man's religion’, and encouraged black Americans to convert to and to follow the teachings of Islam. Members of the movement believed that the only way for black Americans to achieve freedom, justice and equality was the establishment of a totally separate black state.
