Definition
A person dedicated to the service of God who had taken a vow to avoid alcohol and not to touch a corpse or cut their hair. Samson, Samuel and John the Baptist were Nazarites.
1. An act of duty and devotion.
2. By extension, a religious ceremony offering obedience and worship to God.
The Bible describes God as the unique supreme being, creator and ruler of the universe.
In the Old Testament, Samson was the last of the major judges who ruled Israel.
An Old Testament prophet and one of the Judges of Israel. He anointed its first two kings, Saul and David.
A prophet, described in Luke's Gospel as related to Jesus. John foretold the coming of Jesus as the Saviour of mankind, and who baptised repentant people in the River Jordan as a sign that their sins were washed away. Later executed by King Herod.
