Definition
In the Old Testament Book of Genesis, Esau, the elder son of Isaac, gave up his birthright to his brother Jacob in exchange for a mess of pottage (bowl of stew).The first Book of the Bible, containing an account of God's creation of the universe, of earth and of humans, then his dealings with the family of Abraham.
