Jesus gives spiritual authority to Peter to bind or set free spiritual forces, using the imagery of Peter as a gatekeeper who has the Keys of the KingdomThe name given to the man believed by Christians to be the Son of God. Also given the title Christ, meaning 'anointed one' or Messiah. His life is recorded most fully in the Four Gospels.

One of the twelve disciples of Jesus, originally called Simon but given the name Cephas by Jesus.
In the New Testament Gospel of Matthew, Jesus tells Peter that he will be given the keys to the kingdom of heaven. This occurs after Peter has stated his belief that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God.
