Definition
A Christian preacher who is not ordained, but commissioned by their denomination to preach and take services. See lay; laity.
Translation
Greek: 'laos,' ordinary peopleName originally given to disciples of Jesus by outsiders and gradually adopted by the Early Church.
A person within a church appointed to give a sermon at the worship services of that church. He may be the leader of that church, or someone within that church recognised as having a special ability to preach.
