Definition
The eldest daughter of the Titan Atlas, Maia was one of the Pleiades and a lover of Zeus, by whom she had the god Hermes. (There was a second Maia, a goddess, after whom the month of May is named.)The twelve Titans were gods who were overthrown by Zeus, the son of Cronos, king of the Titans.
