Definition

In the Old Testament a walking staff / shepherd's crook which was transformed into a snake which ate the Egyptian snakes (Exodus 7:8-12). Later it was used to bring forth 3 of the 10 plagues affecting Egypt (Exodus 7:19-20; Exodus 8:5-6; Exodus 8:16-17). Another time, it miraculously blossomed and produced almonds (Numbers 17:8).
