Definition
In Greek mythology, one of the five rivers of the underworld, also known as the river of pain. According to Virgil, the dead were ferried across it on the way to the Hades.
Publius Virgilius Maro (70-19 BCE) was a Roman poet who wrote the Aeneid, an epic poem about the Trojan Wars.
God of the Underworld (Roman name, Pluto); a Greek word for the world of the dead, where they await final judgement.
