Definition
A poem that uses regular rhythm and rhyme to convey a story. Ballads usually consist of quatrains with abcb rhyme and iambic tetrameters.
A quatrain is a 4-line stanza, usually rhyming.
The device, frequently used at the ends of lines in poetry, where words with the same sound are paired, sometimes for contrast ' for example, 'breath' and 'death'.
A line containing four metrical feet each consisting of one stressed and one unstressed syllable.
