Definition
The Battle of Trafalgar, 21 October 1805, a decisive naval battle of the Napoleonic Wars. The British Royal Navy, commanded by Admiral Lord Nelson aboard HMS Victory overwhelmingly defeated the combined French and Spanish fleets at Cape Trafalgar off the coast of Spain. Britain's subsequent domination of the seas ensured her freedom from invasion and increasing prosperity.
A series of conflicts fought by various European allies against Napoleon's French Empire.
