Definition

In the Old Testament a Philistine woman from the valley of Sorek, loved by Samson (Judges 16:4). She enticed Samson into revealing to her that the secret of his great strength lay in his hair, which had never been cut. After shaving his head while he slept, she betrayed him to the Philistines and he was captured, blinded, and bound. However, as his hair re-grew he defeated them at the cost of his own life (Judges 16:6-30).
