Definition
Very important Jewish leader described in the book of Exodus in the Old Testament, who, following God's command, struggled against the Egyptian Pharaoh (king) to get the Jewish people released from slavery. Moses led them through the wilderness for 40 years towards the land of Canaan. During this time, God gave Moses the Ten Commandments. Traditionally viewed as the author of the first five books of the Bible.
