Definition
One who pays the price to secure the release of a convicted criminal, slave, or previously owned article. The Bible states that Jesus paid with his life to 'buy back' humans, saving them from the grip of sin and the punishment that sin incurs, and thus is known as the Redeemer. (See Redeemed)

The Christian Bible consists of the Old Testament scriptures inherited from Judaism, together with the New Testament, drawn from writings produced from c.40-125CE, which describe the life of Jesus and the establishment of the Christian church.
The name given to the man believed by Christians to be the Son of God. Also given the title Christ, meaning 'anointed one' or Messiah. His life is recorded most fully in the Four Gospels.
