Definition
In Christian theology, a type is a person or event (usually in the Old Testament) which while accepted as historical is also held to foreshadow some aspect of Christ or the Church. E.g. Abraham's sacrifice of Isaac was seen as a type of God's sacrifice of his only son. In general use, a type is an excellent and clear model or example.
