1. The human body, viewed positively in the Bible because it has been made by God (Psalms 139:13-16), though it can be vulnerable to temptation (Romans 6:12). 2. Term used of the Church, 'the Body of Christ' (1 Corinthians 12:27). 3. In Holy Communion the bread is also called the Body of Christ, symbolising his death for humankind (1 Corinthians 11:23-24).
