Definition

The Bible describes God as the unique supreme being, creator and ruler of the universe (Genesis 1:1). Some of God's attibutes include being holy, eternal, fatherly, faithful, loving, just, merciful, communicating, perfect, jealous (wanting his people to be faithful to him), angered by sin and rebellion, patient, gracious, forgiving (Leviticus 11:45). He exists in three persons - Father, Son (Jesus) and (Holy) Spirit.

¹In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. ²The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. ³And God said, Let there be light, and there was light. ⁴And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. ⁵God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. ¹And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying to them, ²Speak to the people of Israel, saying, These are the living things that you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth. ³Whatever parts the hoof and is cloven-footed and chews the cud, among the animals, you may eat. ⁴Nevertheless, among those that chew the cud or part the hoof, you shall not eat these: The camel, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you. ⁵And the rock badger, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you. ⁶And the hare, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you. ⁷And the pig, because it parts the hoof and is cloven-footed but does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. ⁸You shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall not touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you. ⁹These you may eat, of all that are in the waters. Whether oven or stove, it shall be broken in pieces. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy.
