Definition

John Henry Newman, also referred to as Cardinal Newman, was a 19th-century English theologian. He was a priest in the Church of England and a leader in the Oxford Movement, a group of Anglicans who sought to return the Church of England to Roman Catholic beliefs and traditions. He left the Church of England and was received into the Roman Catholic Church.
