Definition

An act of retaliation for a real or imagined injury, in which the revenger sees his or herself as entitled to carry out their own idea of justice and to take the law into their own hands. (Deuteronomy 32:35; Leviticus19:18. In the New Testament Paul urges Christians not to take revenge but allow God to be the judge of the actions of others (Romans 12:19).
