Definition
William of Orange (1650-1702), who became William III of England in 1689, ruling with his wife Mary II, after his forces defeated the Catholic James II (1633-1701) at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690. He thus asserted English Protestant rule in Ireland and became a champion to Irish Protestants.

Battle fought in 1690 in Ireland between Protestant King William III and the previous Catholic King, James II. (James VII of Scotland).
Christians whose faith and practice stems from the Reformation movement in the sixteenth century which resulted in new churches being created as an alternative to the Roman Catholic Church.
