Definition
A term used in the theory of tragedy which means the flaw that brings about the downfall of the protagonist.
Translation
From the Greek, meaning 'sin,' 'short-coming,' or 'fatal flaw.'A drama in which the main character falls from power, dignity and prosperity to misery, defeat and (usually) death
The 'protagonist' in Greek drama meant the chief contender, or main actor.
