Definition
Someone who tries to improve laws or institutions by instigating changes. The term regularly applies to those who were involved in the Reformation in the sixteenth century, fighting abuses in the Catholic Church which resulted in the establishment of Protestant churches.
Term given to the movements of church reform which in the sixteenth century resulted in new Protestant churches being created as an alternative to the Roman Catholic Church.
