Definition
The study of God. In Christian terms, theology is divided into three areas: the study of doctrine, which is called systematic theology; the study of the teachings of the Bible, or biblical theology; and the study of how to live the Christian life, which is called pastoral theology.
Translation
Greek: theos, 'God' + logos, 'study'.The Bible describes God as the unique supreme being, creator and ruler of the universe.
Name originally given to disciples of Jesus by outsiders and gradually adopted by the Early Church.
The teaching on the beliefs of a religion, usually taught by theologians or teachers appointed by their church.
The Christian Bible consists of the Old Testament scriptures inherited from Judaism, together with the New Testament, drawn from writings produced from c.40-125CE, which describe the life of Jesus and the establishment of the Christian church.
