A-Z: General definitions: Feet of Clay

Definition

A phrase that means to be even what appears strong can be vulnerable. This description arose from the Old Testament book of Daniel (Daniel 2:31-33) where King Nebuchanezzar dreamt of a huge statue made from gold, silver and bronze, but with feet made partly from iron and partly from clay - the feet were struck by a rock and were smashed, and the whole giant therefore fell with a crash and was reduced to powder.
