Definition
An area so called because it is on the west bank of the River Jordan. It is claimed by the Palestinians but has been under Israeli control since 1967.
The river Jordan flows from above Lake Tiberius (the Sea of Galilee) down to the Dead Sea. John the Baptist baptised Jesus in the river Jordan.
